This pendant is part of my Deep Ocean Series inspired by recent discoveries made by a team of scientists exploring the uncharted waters of the Indian Ocean. While mapping giant underwater mountains, they encountered a multitude of previously unknown deep-sea creatures decked out with all kinds of bizarre features including twinkling, bioluminescent organs, velvety skin, and glassy fangs.

I searched for bizarrely shaped pearls with extraordinary colors and hand-carved a fantastical crown bail to cap the stick pearl. The pendant can be strung on a variety of chain styles or silk ribbon. The goal was to create something mysterious, fresh, and alive - like one of those extraordinary new discoveries.
